QUEENSLAND brides are unfazed by the recession and are still spending about $40,000 on their big day.

Inside Bride magazine director Mick Bentham said women about to walk down the aisle and their parents would prefer to save in other areas rather than scrimp on a Wedding.

"People are not buying luxuries during a recession but they don't class a Wedding as a luxury. It is recession-proof and that's a fact of life," he said.

Caterers, marriage celebrants and venue managers say couples are increasingly choosing weekdays, particularly Thursday and Friday, when the price for most services reduces markedly, to say I do".
